Two Day Horsemanship Clinic Sacramento Horsemen's Association

This will be a Two Day Horsemanship Clinic held at the venerable Sacramento Horsemen's Association facility!  We'll be working on core horsemanship and improving the partnership you have with your horse so all skill levels and disciplines are welcome. The clinic will start at 9:00am on both days and go until approximately 4:00pm, with a lunch break for horses and riders around noon. We'll begin with ground work so have your horses on a halter with saddles on (unless your horse has saddling issues).

Auditors welcome at the door, $25/day or $40 for the weekend.

Deposits are non-refundable and any remaining balances are due morning of clinic. Thank you!

April 28th-30th, NCEFT, Woodside, CA

Primary Horsemanship

Next Level Horsemanship

Ride with Chris on the Peninsula! This three day event will have a lunchtime lecture and two different clinics: Primary Horsemanship and Next Level Horsemanship.

Primary Horsemanship:

This clinic is ideal for beginning riders, inexperienced, young, or reactive horses, or horse/human relationships that need a restart.

Primary Horsemanship presents the building blocks necessary to foster a true partnership, one which brings meaning to both horse and human and provides tools for continued growth. You may be working at the foundational level of horsemanship but this is far from rudimentary; this is really the essence of everything equine.

Next Level Horsemanship:

This clinic is for those who have worked with me before and have a safe, trusting relationship with their horse. At a minimum you and your horse should be able to safely extend in all gaits, maintain composure when working closely around other horses and be physically capable of harder work.

Next Level clinics are designed to advance and challenge your partnership by adding the three key elements of precision, complexity and speed control (up or down) to your work without adding confusion, tension and anticipation at the same time.

Schedule:

Friday 4/28

  • 5-8pm: Primary Horsemanship Session 1

Saturday 4/29

  • 9am-12pm: Next Level Horsemanship Session 1

Round Penning the Right Way

Primary Horsemanship:

This clinic is ideal for beginning riders, inexperienced, young, or reactive horses, or horse/human relationships that need a restart.

Round Penning the Right Way:

Don’t miss this chance to learn how to really connect your liberty work to your work under saddle! Round pens are like power tools; used correctly they are a tremendous help, used incorrectly they can do a whole lot of damage. Unfortunately, there’s a great deal of misunderstanding surrounding the two outcomes. In this clinic you’ll see the difference. Some of the topics we’ll cover are body positioning, correct angles, reading and gauging responses, speed control, energy control, hooking on, discerning the real messages you may (inadvertently) be sending your horse and whatever else happens to come up during our session.

Schedule:

Friday 5/5

  • 1-4pm: Next Level Horsemanship Session 1

  • 4-7pm: Primary Horsemanship Session 1

Saturday 5/6

  • 9am-12pm: Next Level Horsemanship Session 2
