Learning the Ropes, with Live Cattle, Novato, CA

  • Novato Horseman's Arena 600 Bugeia Lane Novato, CA, 94945 United States (map)

This clinic is designed to introduce the horse and rider to ranch style roping in the safest manner possible. If you’re already roping it can enhance your skills and give you insights into good horsemanship while handling a rope.

We’ll cover the many aspects of ranch roping from the ground up, including; ropes and rope handling, horsemanship and working with cattle.

Any actual roping of live cattle will be done with breakaway ropes, which we will provide.

This can help you and your horse prepare for the unexpected, overcome certain fears and challenges and get started the right way.

And number one is about safety! As Chris says, “If you have to learn all your roping lessons the hard way, you’re gonna get hurt”.

This clinic will be incredibly beneficial to your horse no matter how skilled or unskilled a roper you are and no matter what discipline you normally ride. Like Chris’s other clinics it is limited to 15 riders for plenty of one on one attention.

This clinic will run from 2-5pm Friday, Sept. 13 and 9am-4pm on Sat and Sun, Sept. 14 & 15, 2024

The cost is $775/rider, which includes the clinic and cow fees. Horse pens are $10/horse/night, and dry camping available for $25/night. The non-refundable deposit to save your spot is $200. You’ll be sent a letter 4 weeks prior to the clinic with clinic details, map etc and and invoice for the balance which will be due (and also non refundable) at that time.

Please don’t hesitate to email with any questions or concerns or text Claire at 307-689-8375.
